This eLearning course will provide participants with the underpinning knowledge they require to administer emergency medication for the treatment of seizures in the community. 

In this course, participants will learn about the different epilepsy plans, and the different emergency medications, their routes of delivery, and their potential impact on the individual.  

Participants must complete the following pre-requisite course prior to registering for this program: 

Understanding and Managing Epilepsy

Course Duration: 30 minutes

Learning Outcomes:

• Will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to administer emergency medication for the control of seizures in the individual
• Understand the prescribed emergency medications, their side effects and potential impacts on the individual
• Read and understand an Epilepsy Management Plan (EMP)
• Read and understand an Emergency Medication Management Plan (EMMP)

Where a person has a duty of care for an individual living with epilepsy this introductory eLearning course will enable them to develop the knowledge required to provide appropriate supports in the workplace, while also developing a better understanding of the impacts of living with epilepsy on the individual. 

Where the individual living with epilepsy has been prescribed emergency medication staff will also require training in the administration of emergency medication. 

This course is a prerequisite to course, Administration of Emergency Medication Theory.

Where the individual living with epilepsy has been prescribed emergency medication staff will also require training in the administration of emergency medication.
